As a Senior Electric Drives Systems Engineer, for John Deere, you will plan, coordinate, and carry out the product analysis, design, and/or test activities for electric drive components and systems in Deere products. Electric drive system components include motors, generators, power inverters, safety protection devices, control systems, conductors, and connectors. In addition, you will:
:Serve as a technical lead for turf, utility, and riding lawn equipment electric drive projects and execute product engineering development on components and systems into vehicle programs while meeting budget, schedule, and quality metrics. Product scope includes golf, commercial, and consumer products.
:Work with the turf, utility, and riding lawn equipment engineers to define and develop the engineering requirements of electric drive systems and components Design and select the electric drive components and systems. This includes analysis of electric drive components such as electric machines, power conversion electronics, and power harnesses. This engineer will deliver electric drive solutions across multiple Deere products. Emphasis will be placed on electric machines, motor control, system control, and system design. Power electronics and wiring system detailed design knowledge is not required.
:Work to achieve commercial goals, for example cost targets, for electric drive components and will strive to reduce development time and expense by leveraging knowledge, components, and suppliers across the enterprise.
:Work with the turf, utility, and riding lawn equipment team to execute vehicle development by completing product design and broader functional area deliverables required for electric drive projects. This involves being part of the vehicle core teams and vehicle design teams and working closely with program management. Work with turf, utility, and riding lawn equipment engineers to integrate the electric drive system into the vehicle. This involves designing electric drive system interfaces and specifying the related vehicle systems to meet the platforms vehicle requirements.
:Support the on:site build, commissioning, and testing of the vehicle integration aspect of the electric drive system.
:Help commission new systems and vehicles, including trouble shooting vehicle system problems, making recommendations on software parameters, and giving technical guidance to product platforms.
:Focus on business aspects and will strive to execute the projects according to the unit cost, NRE and capital goals.
:Develop strategies for new products with electric drives to grow Deere market share. This includes benchmarking the competition and assessing value propositions.
